Spark! - Bb Soloist and Brass Band

Spark! Began as an exploration of Brass band timbres with a mission to create a flex solo in B-flat with brass band instrumentation as the accompaniment. It features spicy technical playing, songful melodies, and an explosive ending. This 5 minute piece is dedicated to flugelhorn soloist Anne McNamara and the Athena Brass Band who kindly agreed to premiere it at the 2025 International Women’s Brass Conference.
 
For future performances, the accompaniment is configured so that the soloist can come from any B-flat cornet part. Flugelhorn, Euphonium, Baritone, or B-flat bass with some light adjustments.
